Oct 22, 2011 · The latest 27-inch iMacs have two Thunderbolt ports, which suggests that they could support two external monitors (for a total of three screens). I have the newest 27" iMac and have a 20" Cinema Display connected via a Thunderbolt connection. I had to buy a $25 cable at the Apple Store to make it all work.

A Late 2013 iMac comes with Thunderbolt, so you have to look for the ports the monitor has got and buy a Mini DisplayPort adapter to connect your monitor to the computer. Most monitors have got DVI, HDMI or VGA, but I recommend you to use HDMI if your monitor is supported.
