Due to threading issues with the DX filters in IE6 necessary to get proper PNG support, it's recommended that you either don't use PNGs or you live with a degraded experience on IE6 (all other supported browsers will work just fine -- Firefox, IE7, Opera9).

All of these work fine for allowing transparency for PNGs in img tags in IE6. They also allow an image to have transparency as background to a div but they do not allow an image with transparency to repeat. They all only display a single instance of the background image or they scale (stretch) that single image to fill the space of the div ignoring the repeat.

According to W3Schools' Browser Stats, about 98.2% of browsers are IE 7+, FF, Chrome or Opera, which all support PNG format with transparency. So, not quite 99.9%, but pretty close. The stats say about 0.6% of uses have IE6, which suppports PNG without transparency (transparent PNGs in IE6 just have a solid white background).
