Jun 16, 2011 · I had a chat with Intel a few months ago about port multiplier support. The last chipset supporting PM is P35. Everything later then P35 is without Port Multiplier support, because it is not compatible with RST Rapid Storage Tech drivers. I had a 4 bay esata/usb3 enclosure hooked on an esatabracket connected to the sata2 on my P35 motherboard.

Jun 16, 2008 · When I connect my port-multiplier + 3 SATA disks to an ICH9R port the system reports that it can only see a single SATA disk on that port. In other words, if I connect 8 disks to my ICH9R (5 disks connected directly and 3 disks connected via the port-multiplier) then the system behaves exactly as if only 6 disks were connected.

Feb 06, 2011 · Intel state that both the ICH9R and ICH10R support port multipliers. I have had success getting the dock to work correctly on both the P45's Esata port and the extra 2 Sata ports (Both JMB36x based) It also works well on P35's Marvel port but only when Marvel drivers are loaded (MSI don't list this but other manufacturers do (Marvel 88SE61xx)

Mar 03, 2010 · If its an intel ICH9R or ICH10R your out of luck because intel doesn't support port multiplier spec... It does detect that there is a port multiplier connected as matrix storage manager says one is but also says it won't work and will only see the first drive.)
