Dec 31, 2019 · The story so far: I'm running Win7 Ultimate (DE) on an ASUS P5Q-E board with Intel P45 Chipset and an ICH10R SATA controller. Intel also provides Rapid Storage Technology (RST) software to manage and monitor the RAID volumes. I updated my ICH10R drivers to v14.8.0.1042 since those are compatible to Win10, according to Intel.

Apr 14, 2010 · Back in March one of the big buzzes surround the release of ICH10R was FIS based port switching and port multiplier support. While ICH9R always supported port multipliers it was Command Based switching meaning only data only flowed one drive at a time vs FIS's open data flow to all connected drives.

Nov 18, 2008 · I bought this External SATA Port Multiplier Box 1-to-5 SATA2 Port Multiplier so that I could hook the single eSATA port on the back of my new Dell XPS 420 to it and thus obtain 5 eSATA ports. Unfortunately, the drives so connected do not show up in explorer. I contacted the manufacturer of this sSATA hub and they told me to find out if Dell machines support eSATA Port Multiplier.

Jul 11, 2010 · It makes use of the ICH10R chipset (six SATA ports) and another J-micron something-or-other. I recently bought the PCXL25SR enclosure, which makes use of the port multiplier technology provided by the ICH10R. Or at least that's how it should be. :-) No matter which SATA ports or combination of HDDs I try, no more than one drive is recognised.

Feb 06, 2011 · Intel state that both the ICH9R and ICH10R support port multipliers. I have had success getting the dock to work correctly on both the P45's Esata port and the extra 2 Sata ports (Both JMB36x based) It also works well on P35's Marvel port but only when Marvel drivers are loaded (MSI don't list this but other manufacturers do (Marvel 88SE61xx)
