Unicode: While HTMLDOC does support UTF-8 for “Western” languages, there is absolutely no support for languages that require dynamic rewriting or right-to-left text formatting. Basically this means you can’t use HTMLDOC to format Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, or other languages that are not based on latin-based alphabets that read left-to-right.

Support for UTF-8 is limited mainly to Western, Latin-alphabet-based, left-to-right-written languages. HTMLDOC 1.9 uses several proprietary processing instructions for formatting the pdf output, these use the syntax of the HTML comments. There are no plans for introducing the CSS support or broader Unicode support.Written in: C, C++

The benefits of introducing UTF-8 support also extend to scenarios where legacy applications require internationalization and use inline queries: the amount of changes and testing involved to convert an application and underlying database to UTF-16 can be costly, by requiring complex string processing logic that affect application performance.

Jun 27, 2008 · You know, HTMLDOC is a good tool to complement txt2tags features, specially to break an HTML file into multiple pages. But the current version of HTMLDOC (1.8.x) has no Unicode support. When you try to use it to convert or split an UTF-8 file, all the special characters (not ASCII) will be incorrect in the resulting HTML.

LDAP clients on a system that support any UTF-8 supported language can access and search the directory properly. If the LDAP clients are on a system with a local character set, the client might not correctly show the results that are retrieved from the server in a particular character set.

After installing pagetopdf I tried it on my wiki (with accents) and the pdf was bad encoded. I tried to add "charset utf-8" in the htmldoc exec statement, then tried it in command line and then, discovered that HTMLDoc does not support UTF-8.That's a shame.

htmldoc --size universal --webpage -t pdf --firstpage p1 -f test.pdf test.html renders the page well for me. It is unclear from the original question whether the options for utf-8 color and pdf type you entered are actually needed for your result or are actually the cause of the incorrect rendering.
