Going to use two ProCurve 2920-24G switches for the iSCSI and vMotion traffic. I understand this isn't the best switch due to per-port buffers, but I'm getting the blessing from my VAR and a Nimble engineer due to my environment and aggregating several 1GbE ports. I'll have 7 ports for iSCSI on each switch and 3 ports for vMotion on each switch.

You also don't need to use LACP to create a link aggregation (trunk for HP, Etherchannel for Cisco) bundle. You can set a static aggregation group and benefit from the switch side balancing and fail over. That said, it's also common to leave the switch side alone and let ESX handle the traffic decision making. – mcmeel Feb 15 '11 at 8:52

Apr 02, 2009 · This switch will support port based vlans - but I don't care about that since it is a flat storage network anyway, this switch will be dedicated to iSCSI traffic. Cost is rougly $350 per switch. The 2824 supports the following: 24 port gigabit Jumbo Frames Flow Control

Aug 08, 2014 · Unmanaged Switch for iSCSI SAN. Good idea??? ... Do I really need Jumbo Frame Support? Do you think the Trendnet switch has all the correct specs to work as an iSCSI isolated switch? ... but I would have to give up a couple of ports for iSCSI on my HP servers.
