Dec 29, 2017 · Any chance of getting better VC-1 support. I have hundreds of ripped Blu-rays that uses VC-1 codec. It will takes months to full re-encode them 1-for-1. I did look and Handbrake and it does not appear to convert from VC-1 to H.264. Any thing close to the original takes 5-6 hours each only to find that the quality is sub par at best.

Oct 15, 2015 · Load the BDMV to Handbrake and convert these VC-1 encoded .m2ts files to H.264 MKV. You’ll lose DTS audio - it is converted to AC3 or AAC. And the subtitles too, as Handbrake does not support pgs subtitle. Jan 27, 2014 · Still I have some issues with pixelated artifacts now and then during playback. The playback is otherwise smooth compared to running the raw VC-1 rip. Are there any settings in Handbrake that removes these artifacts, or is the VC-1 support still not complete? My video settings in Handbrake: Video Encoder => H.264 (x264)

Dec 28, 2016 · API surface changes, which makes improvements will likely not become available over time as you suggest. You can't for example, take an older HandBrake build with early x265 support and use a newer x265. The API changed. I won't support adding this until it gets to a reasonable state.

Aug 29, 2016 · VC-1 is a different code so you'll need to tweak handbrake to make sure the output is of the same quality. VC-1 isn't multi-threaded either which means it takes ages to do anything with the files.
