The Linux community has long been asking Opera to support the h.264 codec in Opera Browser for Linux. We know that h.264 is a proprietary format. However, Firefox browser worked around this problem, it uses the codec x264 (free and open-source software library which uses GNU General Public License and it is developed by VideoLAN)

This unfortunately is a known problem in Opera spanning to OpenSuse 42.3.YouTube reports that H.264 and MSE & H.264 both are unsupported when accessed from that OS. This is using Opera 46.0.2597.26, not quite as fresh as yours, but newer OS.. Looking around …

(this is not a suggestion for fixing this issue) What I have tried so far; downloaded a chromium build of version 67, with the codecs-ffmpeg-extra package.It installed fine, and Opera (54) loads it just fine, but fails when trying to show a video encoded with h.264 on youtube.
