Sep 25, 2019 · Fedora has long been working on better support for AAC and H.264 support while with Fedora 31 the out-of-the-box experience should be in good shape. Fedora 31 just landed the latest GStreamer "bad-free" package with AAC support enabled for handling most MP4 audio content.

What we will be shipping in Fedora is a modified version of the AAC implementation released by Google, which was originally written by Frauenhoffer. On top of that we will of course be providing GStreamer plugins to enable full support for playing and creating AAC files for GStreamer applications.

i'd like to include AAC as one of the compatible formats in my app but i'm having troubles with its encoding. FAAC seems to be missing in GStreamer-1.0 Debian-derived packages (see Ubuntu) and the main reason for that (if i got it correctly) is the presence of avenc_aac (Lunchpad bugreport) as a replacement.I've tried the following:
http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/WL18xx_TI_Bluetooth_Stack_AUDM_Demo_App
In the TI SDK the avenc_aac GStreamer AAC encoder element is included, however, this element only includes support for MPEG 4. The faac encoder element, which is part of GStreamer's gst-plugins-bad package, includes support for MPEG 2, however, this element is not included in TI's SDK.

I just wasted 3 hours trying to get MP4 HTML5 videos to work in my browser (THANKS FEDORA 31 ! ) ... the already included cisco H.264 codec that was installed in firefox did not WORK, even when I 'enabled' it, and restarted it etc.
