We’ve CAS‘ified Confluence, which is great for single sign-on, but it means that any ‘protected’ space now requires authentication to get the RSS feed. And honestly, a wiki without RSS feeds is a non-starter for me. Enter Google Reader.

Mar 27, 2007 · I searched for an RSS reader that both worked the way I want, and supported authentication, and didn’t find any. I ended up with a complicated mechanism of a web proxy on my internet server that only allows connections from localhost, and an SSH tunnel to carry feed reader requests to the proxy… ugly, but it did solve my problem.
