Gentoo uses split ebuilds of the various components of Qt to allow finer-grained control of dependencies from other packages and reduced compilation time for revision bumps or USE changes. However, despite there being separate ebuilds all those components must be of the same version, which means they must all be upgraded together.

Oct 11, 2009 · Unmask any other updated packages that you had previously marked as unstable, which get pulled in as a dependency. (BTW, I am told that you can use the package.keywords for 4.3 as package.unmask as well!

Nov 05, 2009 · Bonjour, Ca fait un moment que je me farci de long en large les forums, et ça fait aussi un petit moment que j'essaye de me dépatouiller tout seul pour mon problème avec ce que je trouve sur les forums, mais bon là, je retombe toujours sur le même problème : dès que je remet "+kde +qt4" dans mon USE, dès que je fais un emerge -uDN world tous les paquets qt se bloquent.

Nov 06, 2015 · the issue with that, is that if you don't sync portage regularly, you don't fix all these issues that has already been resolved. Not all bugs need the ebuild's version changed (like missing/changed dependency for example).
