ISO 8601 Duration format is standartized way to represent duration for interchange, it's already recognized by some database engines (e.g. PostgreSQL) and client side libraries (e.g. plugin for Moment.js durations).

May 02, 2013 · I'm having problem with the date format of rails. It seems to me that the default Date Format is dd/mm/yyyy.How am I gonna change it to something like mm/dd/yyyy?. I read somewhere that ActiveSupport gem can handle this but I don't how it works.

The latter is what I would expect, if you have a problem requiring the JSON gem then I'm not sure what's going on. I just ran into this problem with the oauth gem. In my case, there is not a true conflict, because the oauth gem doesn't depend on to_json implementation. Therefore the problem is that JSON is clobbering the ActiveSupport declarations.
