GCI Store is A-OK. I'm not sure why it's a rite of passage to hate GCI in Anchorage. I've had nothing but good experiences. Sure, their internet is very expensive, but you actually get the speeds they advertise. I can't say that for any service provider in the lower 48.2/58 Yelp reviews

GCI is the worst cable company I have ever had. My cable cuts out ALL the time, the billing system is awful (separate account for sepparate services but same company?) , and the package options are overpriced. I don't understand how GCI has monopolized Alaska.

GCI owns the fiber lines from the lower 48. they generally have lower pricing and quality service. but the customer service and technical support sucks ass. You can basically deal with crappy customer service and tech support, while getting decent service and a reasonable price. Or you can go to MTA if in the valley, which is rocking in my opinion.

While GCI installs suck I've never had issues with there speeds when people have the proper gear. I have a large family and I do all the tech support for the family. I make sure everyone uses GCI for Internet due to the speeds always being superior to MTA when hooked up right
