Sep 02, 2010 · I had also tried using the CharsetEncoder.encode to attempt to encode it to GB2312 but kept getting a UnmappableCharacterException message.Even if Java does support GB2312 then it is a wast of time sending GB2312 content to a client and telling the client that it is UTF-8 .

Dec 06, 2001 · Big5 is used to encode Traditional Chinese characters (used in Taiwan and Hong Kong). GB2312 is used to encode Simplified Chinese characters (used in mainland China). They are not the same character sets. You cannot input a file in Big5 and translated it into GB2312. It's necessary to correct a small problem in your post.
