If it turns out that the FTP server does not support MDTM command, you will have to use another method to retrieve the timestamps. If MDTM is not supported, MLSD won't be either. In that case the only other way is using LIST command to retrieve listing of all files and lookup the file you need - Use FTPClient.listFiles().

The SIZE and MDTM commands are not part of RFC 959. They are proposed commands described by an Internet-Draft published by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force). Because these commands are not part of an RFC, the FTP server supports them only if FTP.DATA includes EXTENSIONS statements to explicitly enable them.

Mar 29, 2013 · Do we (winscp) following the RFC specification for FTP/SFTP protocol at matter MDTM/MFTM or not? Will be there any option like "legacy mod" (when facing the old server using MDTM in old fashion way?).
