This might seem odd, but I can't find any authoritative source that explains how to safely remove a USB or eSata drive in FreeBSD. I understand how to unmount a drive, but what happens next? Do I just pull out the data connector? Couldn't a drive still be in use even if it is unmounted, perhaps as a raw device, or is this just not a concern?
