Dec 11, 2006 · Howdy. I've been trying to install Fedora Core 6 on a brand new Optiplex 320 (BIOS 1.0.9) and Fedora can't find the hard disk. It appears related to the ATI SB600 SATA controller.

Feb 21, 2004 · Hi could someone tell me if fedora core 2 support SATA hard drives? There have been problems with earlier versions of linux supporting sata. I have read some where on the net that the newer 2.6 kernel supports sata drives but also people have said that it doesn't support it.

Dec 12, 2006 · Yes and No. This is one of the tricky situation – sometime smartd does support SATA drives and sometime it simply does not support smartd. Smartmontools should work correctly with SATA drives under both Linux 2.4 and 2.6 kernels, if you use the standard IDE drivers in drivers/ide.
