Feb 01, 2008 · Question: Q: Alert: "Failed to open MIDI support library. Application can not run." Has anyone had this prompt before starting application? I also get it in Garageband 3 and Reason 3.0, but not in Live 6. Th midi controller does not seem to work and on Reason app wont even open. I am using the M-audio Oxygen.

Contact your MIDI device manufacturer for further support. Exit MIDI-Ox and open a Finale file. Choose MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > MIDI Setup. Confirm that your MIDI device appears in the Device field under MIDI In.

Nov 07, 2014 · I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on a Lenovo x301 laptop. All my USB MIDI devices stopped working. The drivers are installed fine and show up as up and running in the device manager, but any attempt to open them using a MIDI application yield an "Unidentified external error" ("Unbekannter externer Fehler" in German).
