Jul 04, 2005 · This is true... There is no mysql support in DA's exim builds. You can do greylisting without using mysql, however. If you want to go the mysql route, you can rebuild the exim package (use the source rpm if you're on RH/Centos). I have a 4.51 rpm with mysql support that I can provide if you need it.

mysql has to be compiled in to be available as a lookup type. You can see what lookups are available by running exim4 -bV (or exim, or sendmail, or however your exim binary is actually named). Here's an example output from one of my servers (note I don't have mysql compiled in either):

Exim will do very basic delivery to a mailbox (like postfix), but you will usually be using something like Courier or Dovecot for delivery and retrieving mail rather than Exim itself. I am not sure to what extent those two support storing the mail messages in a database.
