This paper investigates two alternative strategies for implementing Decision Support Systems (DSS): evolutionary and traditional. The evolutionary approach utilizes judgement modeling (boot strapping) as a means to create felt need, to provide insight into the decision process and the implied weighting of decision variables, and to establish a learning-based, participatory implementation strategy.Cited by: 303

This paper is an evaluation and critique of the Decision Support System (DSS) design and implementation methodology proposed by Gerrity (1970, 1971). A recent study (Stabell, 1974) of a system for portfolio management which was produced using Gerritys methodology forms the empirical base for the analysis.
