May 06, 2017 · I, like many others, got the infamous "Windows Support Software Could Not be Saved" error, and therefore, could not get the full potential out of my Mac while running Windows. But as long as you keep Bootcamp Assistant OPEN after you receive an error, You can manually save the Support Software to your Hard drive or USB Drive.

Jan 07, 2011 · I am trying to install boot camp on a 2007 white Macbook. When I try to get the "Windows Support Software" it gives me two options: burn to cd/dvd and save to a fat-32 formatted external drive. I have tried both to no success. For the cd/dvd I am having to use an external dvd burner because the internal drive no longer works.

Jan 14, 2017 · 1) File system has nothing to do with it as OS X is incapable of writing to an NTFS partition without 3rd-party software. 2) It has already been well established that Apple's servers are horrendously slow to download Windows support software when run through Boot Camp Assistant, which is why there are mirrors on their support site linked above.
