Mar 21, 2005 · Win2k/XP = use Enhanced Mode like you've got. Win98 & earlier it suggests using the PATA+SATA setting (it's apparently some sort of compatability mode thing). This information is displayed in your user manual, and in your BIOS.

Jun 17, 2005 · When you enable enhanced mode, you disable ATAPI emulation on the ICH5R SATA ports. Instead, it tells the operating system that the SATA devices are on a RAID controller, requiring a F6 driver in Windows.

Sep 04, 2011 · According to the manual, setting that option to "Enhanced" will cause "all SATA devices to operate in SATA mode". The available options are "Disabled", ""Compatible" (Apparently meant to set up IDE emulation) and "Enhanced". The suboption to that control is "Enhanced Mode Support On".

Does anyone know if there is a way to enable AHCI/SATA mode on the Latitude D620. The onboard I/O chipset (Intel 82801 GBM - ICH7M) supports it as well as the internal SATA drive I have, but it is only running in ATA mode and I would like to take advantage of the performance improvements of the AHCI/SATA mode.
