Unfortunately, Google has decided to end support for XMPP on May 15, 2014. Obihai listed some Voip alternatives on their blog that would support their adapters after the GV shutoff. I checked out most of the providers on their list.

This post is in response to a project trying to get asterisk to connect to Google Voice after Google made the switch from XMPP to SIP. Bottom line is you can only connect to Google Voice via Google approved methods. AFAIK, that means using a Google app or a Polycom/Obihai device. Using any other method is "violating program policy."

Update 2013-1231: ObiHai announced that Google is ending support for XMPP based calling with Google Voice on May 15, 2014 which will make Google Voice incompatible with the OBi100 device.
