Oct 26, 2016 · I'm also assuming that what people are referring to is the "Enable bidirectional support" checkbox on the Ports tab of the printer properties. To my mind, this setting would be what lets the print server/computer know the status of said printer.

Nov 20, 2013 · Reboot the computer and then modify the printer properties, under the ports tab place a check in the box next to "Enable bidirectional support." Or Delete the problem printer in "Devices and Printers", disconnect and re-connect the USB cable for the printer to have the device re-enumerated.
