In the old rich text editor, there is a new icon to the right of the image icon. Place the cursor where you want the embedded application and then click on the icon. Browse to the application you want to embed and them click Finish. It uploads the application and its embedded image to Cockpit.

The reason EditLive! uses CSS for this is so that it matches the look of your site. Like EditLive!, browsers default to Times New Roman if you don't specify a font so if you just change the default that EditLive! uses, it would still use Times New Roman in your browser.
