The video stream itself must be DXVA compliant. For example, H.264 video with more than 11 reference frames are not DXVA compatible. The limitation that the video decoder must be connected directly to the video renderer only applies the the native variant of DXVA.

Aug 05, 2017 · I've noticed that mpc-hc now has support for h.265/hevc decode, even hybrid nvidia decode works. Would be a nice feature to add to vlc because vlc still has faster than 1x playback with normalized sound, but with hevc cpu only decode this is a huge load on the cpu to playback at say..2x
