Mar 17, 2019 · Support for ARB_fragment_shader will depend on the driver. The Mac i945 driver does support this extension, looks like Mesa does not. The hardware is very limited (compared to modern ATI/NV hardware), so you should expect complex fragment shaders to fall back to software emulation even if the extension is supported.

GLSL is the shader language used by OpenGL although the two version numbers don't always match. From your ourput, it looks like you are using the on Chip Intel GPU. The driver for this chip qorks through Mesa which as far as I know does not support OpenGL 4 yet.

If so, XP does not support newer versions AFAIK . Because in Vista, I believe it was everything 1.4 and prior that was depreciated and the prior OpenGL DLL that was in the XP OS was removed. At which time the prior versions were emulated and only newer versions were fully supported. You could run GLview, it will list the supported OpenGL extensions.
