"MSCDEX mounted subdirectory limited support" is a normal message when you mount a directory on your hard drive as a CD instead of mounting an actual CD-ROM drive. It will not prevent Daggerfall from installing. Make sure you're using DOSBox 0.73 and that you are following the Daggerfall install instructions TO THE LETTER.

DOSBox version: 0.61 (supported) Note: (2004-05-14 10:09) afj666 Problems using the included MSCDEX, the game wont support it. However if you mount the CD-Rom drive with '/' instead of '\' it displays "Mounted Directory - Limited Support" and the game is fully playable. DOSBox can use only one core of your CPU, so If you have for example a CPU with 4 cores, DOSBox will not be able to use the power of three other cores. You can also force the fast behavior by setting cycles=max in the DOSBox configuration file. The DOSBox window will display a line "Cpu Speed: max 100% cycles" at the top then.

Feb 10, 2013 · I'm trying to get Stonekeep working on DOSBox under Kubuntu 12.10. I can mount the hard drive where the installed files live, but when it comes to mounting the CD I'm running into issues. If I do mount e /media/label_of_cd -t cdrom I get MSCDEX: mounted subdirectory: limited support and the executable can't find the CD.

Jul 01, 2005 · procerus wrote:2/ Another way to fix the problem is to open two files in the root of your c: drive with a text editor and add a couple of lines. This sounds simple enough but if you choose to do it you should bear in mind that you will be forcing all Windows programs to access the CD-ROM drive in your machine via a much slower 16 bit DOS compatible interface.

Just updating now, the message from DOSbox indicates that MSCDEX mounted subdirectory: limited support. Drive E is mounted as CDrom. Mount C: The Need For Speed SE also works as well, as it states it has been mounted as the local directory. Now when I get to the E: INSTALLD.EXE on DOSbox, I type that and nothing happens...
