I just purchase ASUS P7H55-M/USB3, which contain no IDE drive at all, XP with SP3 and all drivers are installed on SATA HDD, when I run Norton Ghost to create image, which require to work under DOS environment, it hangs. When I boot up with win98 under DOS mode, and find no drive at all.

Aug 02, 2008 · I tried booting with a Windows 98SE boot disc but it doesnt recognise my SATA DVD drive as it only detects IDE im pretty sure... Basically what im trying to do is Boot to MS-DOS prompt so i can run Norton GHOST and create a image of the drive e.t.c. I never done this on a SATA drive machine before hence why i never come across this problem...

Feb 24, 2007 · I have a Samsung SATA dvd-writer. I do not need to "get to DOS" to use DOS commands. I do need to boot sometimes before the OS kicks in. I can create all kinds of bootable CD's from within WinXP. I also use TeraByte's super Image From DOS, BootiT NG, and other products.

I was able to set to AUTO, boot the DOS cd, run Partition Magic, then restore CMOS and boot the installed WinXP without problem. It worked this time, but is admittedly scary.
