Mar 03, 2008 · Is LBA48 not supported in any Linux distro yet? Is it just the driver for this controller that does not have the support for LBA48? I have been Googling for a while and have not found any info that solves this issue. Is there any other distros that may support it natively so I can install Linux on the controller card disks in a raid 1 array?

Jan 17, 2004 · 48-bits are plenty for the time being. And from what I understand, Serial ATA in native mode doesn't even have the LBA48 limit. (That part of my understanding could be wrong.) Even if a couple of *drives* supported a 64-bit LBA system, ATA-100 and ATA-133 (more properly, ATA/ATAPI-6) only support 48-bit, so they wouldn't know what to make of it.

If you don't want to be left out in the cold in that regard, you probably shouldn't upgrade to 7.1 just yet. Yes, you'll need to monte into an LBA48-compatible kernel in order to get large drive support under 4.01b. But I think you're a little confused as to how to do it.
