Sep 17, 2008 · Hi gurus, My friend has just installed a PC which has 4GB physical memory, but the windows xp on that PC did only find 3GB memory. I've heard that Windows XP support 4GB virtual memory, and the virtual space available to users is about 2GB.

Feb 19, 2009 · I just upgraded my computer to 4GB of RAM from 2GB. I replaced the old memory with a matched pair of Corsair 2GB modules. I wanted to just add 4GB to the existing 2GB but had heard that it wouldn't even boot up with 6GB. my 4Gig shows up in CMOS but in windows it just shows as 3.25GB.

XP doesn't support 4 GB RAM! A friend on mine recently ordered -- on my advice -- a Vostro 400 tweaked to its highest settings with Windows XP Home, a quad core processor and 4 GM RAM. Fresh out of the box, it started up with the BSOD.
