Oct 28, 2010 · Windows XP with 1tB hard drive I have resently bought a 1tB hard drive. The saleman told me I have to be ware that many 1tb hard drives do not work with Windows XP, and he helped me to pick one that works with XP. No surprise! it does not work.

Nov 09, 2014 · The root of this is Windows XP x86 is MBR only meaning that the limitation is to do with MBR Disks exceeding 2TB must use GPT which extends the limit significantly, however Windows XP does not have this support currently.

Sep 30, 2015 · I have recently bought 1TB WD element external hdd drive, after coping data from the XP system connected the WD drive on WIN7 and copied data from there also, and when I connected WD back to XP system it shows the drive is connected but I’m unable to open it, it says the files are corrupted and does not do anything.
