May 25, 2009 · Does windows 7 have built in blu-ray player? I just installed an internal sata LG blu-ray burner and Win7 installed the drivers on bootup so it's recognized. I don't yet have a blue ray move to try it but wondered if Win7 has a built in BluRay player as I may not want to install the software that came with the LG drive.

Aug 18, 2008 · While posting my previous article, my eye caught a link on the PCPro.uk site stating "Microsoft bulks up Windows with Blue-ray support".The article says we are developing a feature pack that will add native support for burning to Blu-Ray media to Windows along with some feature to lock down portable devices and some new smartcard features.

Jan 04, 2009 · I understand that with ATI cards if you use the native graphics drivers in Windows 7 a Blu-Ray player will play Blu-Ray. The Beta ATI drivers from ATI will not. Don't know about Nvidea. Also I don't think Media Center has, or will ever have Blu-Ray support. X-Box uses HD and despite the rumours hasn't abandoned it.

Mar 07, 2009 · Windows XP doesn't even have native DVD playback, does it? Although, last I checked that's easily fixed by installing a free trial of WinDVD or PowerDVD, and anyone can use Windows Media Player, or Media Player Classic, etc. to play them.

As for media support, Windows 10 gets native support for MKV and High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). But still there is no Blu-Ray playback support. However, that doesn't mean you have to live without Blu-Ray movies with Windows 10. There are plenty of free Blu-Ray player for Windows 10.
