Sep 29, 2010 · We have a server running Windows Server 2003 Standard. There is 8GB of physical RAM installed in the machine and after adding the /PAE switch to the Boot.ini file, the OS can see 4GB of RAM (prior to using the switch, it could only see 3.25 GB of RAM).

I have researched a various web sites to find the fact about the meory utilization of Windows 2003 Standard R2 32Bit with 8GB of RAM with /PAE switch. There are a lot of conflicting and ambiguous articles here and there. I understand that 32 bit W2K3 Standard won't recognize more than 4GM of RAM.

Mar 18, 2008 · Thanks a lot for the answer. I will post the vmware.log tomorrow. Just so that you know, the host OS is the Redhat Linux Enterprise Server 5.0 and the guest OS is Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition. Both the OS'es support more than 8GB of RAM. Thanks Sridhar
