Mar 23, 2008 · The Wii does work with widescreen without the component cables, however it is slightly better with them. I personally didn't think the cables were worth the $25 I bought them for because it accentuated the TV lag and the looming fact that the Wii definitely cannot support HD. It's 480pi is really nothing pretty compared to real HD.

The television's options must also be adjusted to take advantage of its own widescreen mode, even when receiving widescreen input from the Wii console. Refer to your television's manufacturer or user's guide for more information. Complete these steps. Access System Settings. Select Screen, then select Widescreen Settings.

That's to be expected. Wii U was a major hardware upgrade. Wii lacks native widescreen in the most technical sense. 240p, 480i, or 480p, are non widescreen amounts of pixels being output. Widescreen has been around for a long time, it's not dependent on pixels. Although i know what you are trying to say by todays standards.

Jun 03, 2007 · One thing that I have not seen mentioned here is the games ability to support 16:9. The Wii will natively support 480p 16:9 resolution with the component cables but unless the game supports it as well it seems your projector will either auto adjust it back to the 4:3 mode or will stretch it out.

Sep 19, 2011 · Alot of Wii games are made with Widescreen in mind and playing them on a standard TV just doesn't look right. For example Castlevania Rebirth on Wiiware only has resolution settings that fit a ...

Widescreen Settings You can change the screen format for your Wii display by selecting Widescreen (16:9) or Standard (4:3). Please note that in addition to using the Wii's setting, you must also adjust your television's options to take advantage of its own widescreen mode.

Aug 19, 2017 · Okay: followed the homebrew guide for my Wii U. Everything's installed perfectly, but I don't know how to set up widescreen support in USB Loader GX. When GX loads, it'll stretch 4:3 mode to fill my TV, and when I set widescreen mode in features, it simply shrinks the screen back to 4:3. Everything's sharp, but it's not actually in widescreen.

I've found some incomplete lists that have some games, but since we're nearing the end of Wii with Wii U right around the corner you would think a definitive list would exist somewhere. I'm talking true widescreen modes like Twilight Princess Wii, not just a stretched out 4:3 turned into anamorphic widescreen.

Jan 11, 2007 · RE4 for the Gamecube does support 480p, however it does not support 16:9. It's actually odd because the game purposely appears in a "widescreen" format even on 4:3 televisions, however there is no option for widescreen 16:9, so you simply get the same image (with black on the top/bottom) stretched on a widescreen set.
