I connect the TV Live to a tv in one room and turn on the Network sharing. In another room, I want to access the media content of the external USB drive connected to the WD Live from a Sony Bravia, which has DLNA. This TV can see other media server in the house but not from the WD Live.

Both media servers use UPNP to do so. I can also use those two media servers in either simple network mode, thinking SAMBA, or in NFS mode and I can find the 2 WD Live’s I have and playback media files stored on those 2 drives. So the drives are found and accessed in non-upnp mode.

DLNA was created so that all the different devices, media players, TV, bluray players, game consoles, picture frames, mp3 players could share media in the home. Re: UPnP/ DLNA device support. in both cases the flac file is not being transcoded ie. just sent as a flac file. "X-FLAC" is the mime type for flac which the device says it supports. I assume the playback of the first file stopped by itself after 2 seconds.
