    Jan 31, 2011 · Do I do that using VMWare tools? Using diskpart on the image? This sounds like a multi-step procedure. does it have to be done everytime I bring up the virtual machine? What has to be done when I want to again use the eSata drive on my host machine? Why can't VMWare deal with eSata disks? Thanks, Dean.

    Apr 13, 2013 · I am the author of the tutorial you are referring to. Unfortunately this will not work on eSata because VMware Player does not support eSata. That's why eSata is not mentioned in the tutorial. BHut I just now made a Note in the tutorial to make that clear. You could investigate whether Virtual Box would work, but I have not tried that.

As a semi-last resort, I could pick up an external eSATA enclosure and use this, though I was hoping to be able to pass this through to a separate VM for backups.
