Mar 30, 2009 · I'm thinking that ESXi isn't the ideal candidate for this requirement, so should I stick with VMware Server which I know supports USB passthrough? Does ESX support USB? I'm running ESXi 3.5.0 (albeit currently on a Dell Precision 670 with x 6 USB ports). Thanks in advance,

Jul 21, 2009 · And yes, I could use VMware Server/Workstation but we want to use a Hypervisor! The laptop I'm using ((Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook S7210) has a Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller and, not suprisingly, ESXi does not support this. ESXi 4 refuses in install (failed to load lvmdriver), ESXi 3.5 installs but my IP address is 0.0.0.0.

Hey all! Is it true that ESXI 4 does not support any external USB drives? I want to run it instead of running VMware Server but it to support external USB drives. I know that there is a USB controller support but have been reading that no USB drives will be supported.
