Not only is it supported, but, when I tried to compare 1080p transmitted to the same monitor via VGA vs. HDMI, I really could not tell any noticeable difference. This may not be true for all monitors (depending on their D-to-A converters). There w...

Aug 11, 2009 · I use the VGA output on my laptop that has an older Geforce 6800 graphics card with a VGA cable and I can do full 1080p on my 42inch 120hz Vizio TV, there is no doubt that as long as your LCD monitor/TV supports that resolution and has a VGA port on it, a GTX 280 will be able to output at that resolution with a VGA cable.

So while the pixel resolution potentials vary with each connection, the quality otherwise does not. As in, 1,920x1,080/60 over HDMI is going to look the same as 1,920x1,080/60 over DVI and ...Author: Geoffrey Morrison

Apr 20, 2008 · I have driven a 1680x1050 display with a VGA cable, so I imagine it could handle a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD 1920x1080p signal. However, as Pressure noted, if the content is protected by HDCP (and it should be), since VGA does not support that standard, it will not display the signal at full-resolution (I believe it halves it to 960 x 540).

Oct 06, 2012 · re:New VGA cable won't do 1920x1080? A lot of VGA cable won't do that resolution because the cable does not fully implement all connection to 15 pins. I run into the same problem after getting 2 pairs of longer cable (thus able to verify it's not a faulty cable) - and to cut the story short, I use a multimeter tester to test each pin connection.

Sep 24, 2015 · VGA can indeed support 1080p. The quality of the signal begins to drop off above 1920x1080 (1080p) which will cause a drop in image quality due to the analogue nature of the signal but with a good enough cable and transceiver on either end …

Mar 15, 2008 · I have a top-range Bravia and it doesn't support 1080p over component. Same goes with VGA, some TVs support 1080p others don't, although its easier to find TVs that support VGA 1080p than component. Tell you what though, its no wonder Joe Bloggs on the street gets confused about HD.
