Will the new version of unity support vertex animation? FBX has the potential to export vertex animations. In 3D studio max I'd like to load animations via point cache then export the animations into an FBX to be played in Unity.

More info See in Glossary plugins, Unity does not include modelling tools. Unity does however have great interactivity with most 3D modelling packages. Unity supports triangulated or Quadrangulated polygon meshes. Nurbs, Nurms, Subdiv surfaces must be converted to polygons.

Unity doesn't support vertex based animations out of the box. There are solutions available (I believe for free). Just search forum.unity3d.com or the asset store.

application called fragMOTION which only supports Skeleton animation and Vertex animation. But the problem is fragMOTION does not show any animation frames while if I turn off the modifier and do a simple translation or rotation animation it is imported as it's supposed to be. I also tried to Bake animation or Point Cache but no success.
