Dec 25, 2018 · 2G is maintained, to a degree*, in markets that were originally 2G but new deployments are strictly 3G & LTE. I don't think you'll get a lot of sympathy from T-Mobile. AT&T ditched 2G a couple of years ago and Verizon plans to shut theirs down a EOY '19.

Dec 16, 2012 · Yup. Even older models of iPhone work on T-Mobile's 3G (except the 1st gen iPhone of course). But they don't get the HSPA+ speed. Still beats EDGE!

Tmobile only supports the correct bands for 3G on the iPhone in a very limited number of areas. I would expect to be on Edge the great majority of the time. I would expect to be on Edge the great majority of the time.

Jul 17, 2017 · The only way you'll get 3G on that phone with T-Mobile is to go to a less populated market where they're still running HSPA+ on 1900 MHz (band-2). Not sure what phones I'd really recommend right now. You seem like me; someone doesn't replace phones unnecessarily.

It needs to be unlocked, T-Mobile does not yet have an LTE Network and in most cities you won't even have 3G. T-Mobile is in the progress of switching to a iPhone Compaitble band (Channel for Cell Phone) that will have 4G HSPA+ ("4G" on AT&T but not LTE) Later this year (2013) T-Mobile will launch LTE on that "Channel" and you'll have 4G LTE
