Feb 01, 2016 · As I said, metadata for WAV files is non-standard, so therefore I can't say what the differences between those that can be seen and those that can't. Assumedly, the tags are either not getting read by Sonos because they are in other non-standard fields, or they are a resolution and/or bit-depth Sonos does not support (i.e. 96KHz/24-bit files).

Dec 25, 2013 · Why doesn't Sonos recognize .wma files? This is a great product except for this annoying issue. I've seen many comments from individuals holding back from purchasing Sonos because of no wma support.

May 05, 2015 · It is possible to play high resolution 192 kbps 24 bit (or 96 kbps 24 bit) files on your Sonos system, sort of. This depends on downsampling the files, but more importantly hinges on the unpublished capability of Sonos to support 48 kHz / 16 bit / 1536 kbps, higher than the officially stated 1411 kbps.

The supported Lossless (uncompressed) formats are ALAC, FLAC, AIFF and WAV. The supported Lossy (compressed) formats are MP3, WMA, AAC and OGG.*"

Jan 14, 2014 · I ripped all my CD's to Nero (.NRG) files well before i purchased any Sonos products. Sonos doesn't recognize or see these files so I can't play any of these music files. What lossless audio compressions does Sonos support? I guess I'm going to have to rip them all over in a different format.
