I've also tried a different controller program called ControlMK which ALSO does NOT work with Quake 4. I'm surprised this is an issue, as many other FPS including Quake 3 for example, allows me to use a joystick using this method. Aug 05, 2006 · I use an Xbox 360 controller for most of my computer games (GTA's, NFS's, etc)...but I can't seem to get Quake 4 on my PC to respond to the controller. It only lets me use a mouse and keyboard combination (which blows in comparison to a controller). This isn't a very "high priority" question, but I was just curious if anyone had any expertise on the subject. Thanks.

Feb 15, 2015 · It wouldn't be easy with the original Quake programs. Something like xpadder will get you partway there, but the camera-look won't feel quite right if you're just mapping joystick axis moves to keypresses. I took a quick look at the QuakeSpasm engine and it doesn't seem to have 360 controller support.

Quake just isn't suitable as the title for console players to use as their console-PC transition game, there's way too much going on with the mechanics. You COULD give the game controller support, but no matter how well the game supports using one it doesn't make it any less of a bad idea to do it.
