Aug 29, 2013 · The Apple TV does support AAC audio, but it will just transcode this and output 2ch PCM audio. 5.1 AC3 output is an option on Apple TV, but only if the video in question has a 2nd AC3 audio track. IIRC, these are the settings Handbrake will default to when using the Apple TV preset (2ch AAC, and 5.1 AC3 passthrough).

Jun 28, 2014 · My receiver can play DTS and AC3 but not AAC. When I play a 5.1 AAC source - I only get 2 channel PCM audio yet the information bar and info both show 5.1. Any ideas what can be done? I have my audio setup at 5.1 and HDMI.
