Apr 30, 2010 · There are 64 LUNs presented to the 3.5 enviorment but to the vSphere Enviorment are only 3. the thing is that to the vSphere env i presetnted the new lun from the NEW Scsi target latley and everyone are saying that it should not happend in vSphere. so not just the 3.5 is the problem also tghe 4.0 so what should i maybe config in the Storage to help it ?

Nov 27, 2016 · Thanks for this great information. It worked for me perfectly last year with 6.0 but now I'm having trouble with 6.5. I have rebuilt my test environment from scratch on 6.5 but I really need this USB datastore piece to work to complete it so that ESXi has a place to write the system logs and HA info.

The STORAGE_DEVICE_ID_DESCRIPTOR structure contains identifiers that are extracted from page 0x83 of the device's vital product data (VPD). Typically, only SCSI and Fibre Channel devices support this page. Integrated drive electronics (IDE) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) devices, IEEE 1394 drives, and RAID controllers do not provide page 0x83.

This is crucial in clusters which have more than 2 nodes. SCSIport does not support individual LUN resets, therefore we are limiting SCSIport support to two nodes.

The Block Limits VPD page is optional – although many SCSI devices chooses to support it, its absence doesn’t hurt the SCSI specification. This has a direct impact in a QEMU guest that uses SCSI pass-through with virtio-scsi. If the SCSI device does not support it, there will be no Block Limits VPD message between the guest and the SCSI device.
