I checked my remote configuration several times and could not find any mistake. So i tried to push my repository by using "GIT GUI". That worked perfectly without any errors.

@robinst yes, just tried, pushing works under CLI, but not with egit, guess egit requires smart http setup on the server. – Kevin Apr 30 '13 at 3:50

I am trying to create a central repo for our company, which accepts git requests over http. I have succeded in so far that I can clone/push/pull over http using the msysgit client 1.8.0 on windows. The server (ubuntu 12.04) also uses git version 1.8.0. Performing a push with EGit produces an error:

It is highly suggested NOT to use WebDAV if possible. If you must use HTTP/HTTPS then usage of the git-http-backend CGI script is recommended over WebDAV.
