    Hi @steeldriver I have isolated the fault to being shares that are hosted off the home directory. Whenever I try to share anything off /home/john/ , then exportfs comes up with the same error: "does not support NFS export". Do you know why this would be? – john smith Feb 9 at 19:30

    @roaima to be more correct NFS can only export supported file systems. NFS is obviously not supported. BTW some filesystems which seem to work may not work correctly. A few years ago I was surprised that not even ext4 was working as it should and NFS developers told me that it's not officially supported. – rudimeier Jul 17 '17 at 15:00
