Aug 24, 2008 · Roughly speaking, the D300 can write one lossless compressed NEF per second onto an Extreme IV card. For Extreme III, it goes up to about 1.5 seconds. The Lexar 300x UDMA is perhaps a tiny bit faster than the Extreme IV. Keep in mind that the D300's write speed is about 3 to 4 times as fast as the D2X so that it empties its buffer much faster.

Aug 22, 2007 · IIRC, then the D300 was UDMA-5. When I got mine, I purchased the fastest cards available at the time, which were SanDisk Extreme IV at 45MB/s write speed. Rob Galbraith had test results(*) for virtually every card on the market up at that time and if memory serves, then the D300 wasn't going to write much faster than about 30MB/s.
