Re: WDS support for WNDR3700v4 Router. WDS was useful in its day but it was never fully standardized, so interoperability between vendors was never guaranteed. It is now considered obsolete and insecure, due to most implementations supporting, at best, WEP security or no security at all. Netgear has quite clearly opted to remove WDS...

Jul 31, 2013 · Technically speaking the 7550 does not have to support WDS because it is your gateway and/or main access point. The 4500 is basically the same thing, but without the proprietary firmware, and it's the 4500 that needs to support WDS because it needs to be both a wireless client to connect to the 7550, and a wireless access point to redistribute the 7550's network which it does through it's wireless repeater …

Currently, the WDS/Repeater mode feature can only be supported without security. Therefore, we have removed it from the R8000. NETGEAR will implement this feature again with security support around the end of Q4. Q4 2014 already came but the WDS feature is no where to be found.
