Hyper-threading is enabled by default in Live for computers with multi-core processors. In Live 9, if your computer only has a single-core processor, hyper-threading is automatically disabled in order to preserve the correct order of the threads to be processed.

3 Answers 3. Multithreading on a single core can speed up the application by using thread and instruction level parallelism. If a single CPU has multiple cores it will run a process on each of the cores. If it does not, it will need to switch between processes on the single core.

Multi-threading is something that applications use to essentially address more than one core on a CPU. The only kind of control over this would be on CPUs that use Hyperthreading; which can be turned on/off. To my knowledge AMD CPUs don't have hyperthreading.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multithreading_(computer_architecture)
A process with two threads of execution, running on a single processor. In computer architecture, multithreading is the ability of a central processing unit (CPU) (or a single core in a multi-core processor) to provide multiple threads of execution concurrently, supported by the operating system.

Jan 04, 2020 · It depends on how you define performance! What a weird question, right? Performance is only defined one possible way: get X large amount of work done in Y time. Right? Well, technically, that’s known as “throughput”, and is only one way of thinkin...

Feb 26, 2017 · In the world of 3D product design and 3D printing this can make a huge difference - far greater than any difference due to CPU cycle time. But so far there are very few applications that can actually do multi-threading. It would be nice to see a list of apps that are multi-threaded, since these will run much faster than single threaded ones.

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/39879/why-doesnt-javascript-support-multithreading
Jun 29, 2012 · JavaScript does not support multi-threading because the JavaScript interpreter in the browser is a single thread (AFAIK). Even Google Chrome will not let a single web page’s JavaScript run concurrently because this would cause massive concurrency issues in existing web pages.
